Packaging the Husky - Household Applications Series

17-Year-Old Snowblower Starts on First TryTo continue my series of household applications using Intercept to protect personal belongings from rust/corrosion, mold and mildew, here is a story about my snow blower.

Have you ever had a tool that you considered a friend? My Husky snow blower is that for me.  I bought it at the end of the winter of 94 after 2 years in a row of more than 100”  snow accumulation here in the Boston area and I remember being completely exhausted and discouraged from shoveling my large driveway and walkways.

Since then my Husky and I have been through a lot together and it has always been there for me, starting up and performing every time whether the snow was light and fluffy or wet and heavy.  He is the male lion of my garage; clearing the way, protecting the driveway, the cars, and the largest opening to our home from the ravages of harsh New England winters.

Last season, I became concerned because we didn’t have any snow and Husky and I hadn’t been through our usual winter rigors together. I am a believer in “use it or lose it” and after having filled the gas tank and applied the lubricants at the beginning of the season, there was well over a year of inactivity.  At the end of February, and for the first time in its history, I wrapped Husky in Intercept and placed it away in the corner of the garage without dumping the gas. I KEPT THE GAS CAP ON TIGHT; INTERCEPT BARRIER PACKAGING WILL KEEP CORROSIVE AND FUNGAL ELEMENTS OUT AND ALSO KEEP FUMES IN.

When unwrapping Husky for this season, it looked identical to when I placed it in Intercept protection. The grease was perfectly clean and the engine started up immediately.  Past experience was that if I had left the old gas in the tank from the past season, it would never have started properly. I don’t know why Intercept protection had any influence on keeping gas in a gas tank fresh and perhaps it is just coincidental, but I do know from Liberty work with industrial applications that Intercept will keep grease and oil coatings fresher.  With this success in mind, I now have my lawnmower wrapped and tucked away in a corner of the garage to be opened next spring. Here's a quick video of the first start of Husky this season.
