The series exhorts us that the best plan to prevent corrosion from attacking our assets and infrastructure is by treating them with products designed to resist corrosion. In other words, an investment in corrosion prevention instead of waiting to treat, repair, replace materials, will provide great reduction in the cost of corrosion.
Next week we will be at the 2017 DoD-Allied Nations Corrosion Conference in Birmingham, Alabama, with our colleague Keith Donaldson, of Engineered Materials, Inc., presenting a paper on Oil-Free Corrosion Control. The entire conference, known as CorrCon, is meant to educate and foster collaboration “to not only better understand the impact of corrosion on DoD equipment and infrastructure, but also jointly work toward practical prevention and control solutions. This effort brings together a diverse spectrum of technical expertise and knowledge representing government, industry, academia, and international corrosion partners. Participants represent essentially every field related to corrosion prevention and control, including basic and applied research; maintenance and sustainment; research and development; practitioners and manufacturers; and the DoD acquisition workforce.
Through a series of technical programs and events, the conference proceedings are designed to stimulate collaboration and promote information sharing opportunities. Participants also have the opportunity to interact with respected leaders and recognized subject matter experts across the corrosion community worldwide.”
