Packaging Art for Preservation

Posted by Elaine Spitz on Oct 10, 2012 9:12:00 AM

Todays post is from the files of frequent guest blogger Albert Greenhut of EMI.

I recently had a challenge most museums never face. I had the opportunity to expand my wall space to display my ever-increasing collection. The fact is that museums can have up to 95% of their collection in storage at any given time, and given the other fact that museums typically do not get rid of any pieces of their collection (rather, slowly adding to their collections over time) they are in a constant crunch due to continually diluting their amount of wall space.

Intercept Packaging Meets Interceptor

Posted by Elaine Spitz on May 8, 2012 10:08:00 AM

Today's post was written by Albert Greenhut of Engineered Materials, Inc.

What do little kids like? Loud horns, big locomotives, fast airplanes, cool cars, etc.

Anything that is big or fast or strong that pushes the limits of our imagination appeals to the inner child in all of us, some of us even let this inner child run wild and can truly enjoy “big boy toys”. That same philosophy applies to when you ask a child what their favorite animal is. You usually hear something like an elephant because it’s enormous, a shark because it’s scary, or a cheetah because it is fast.

The Trouble with Corrosion

Posted by Elaine Spitz on Mar 6, 2012 9:01:00 AM

Recent unseasonably warm weather in our area suggests there may be a bad corrosion season ahead of us. Corrosive gases are more active in warmer and more humid weather. To help you prepare, we offer:

Our short video: Do You Know What You're Spending on Corrosion?" The Intercept Technology heavy duty barrier packaging is simple, effective and easy to use in comparison with other old-fashioned barrier products. This video will tell you how.

Packaging and Buried Treasure

Posted by Elaine Spitz on Feb 2, 2012 9:15:00 AM

From guest blogger Albert Greenhut of EMI.

I recently spent a year working in South Africa. The majority of my working hours were spent navigating the winding streets of townships helping organize and manage HIV/AIDS educational programs for kids. In my free time I tried to put myself in fun adventurous situations, like bungee jumping over the Zambezi River (in which I rafted down the class 5 rapids the day before), island hopping in northern Madagascar, safaris, climbing Kilimanjaro, and hunting in the South African bush.

6 Steps to Creating a Rust Inhibition Program

Posted by Joe Spitz on Dec 14, 2011 8:18:00 AM

Liberty Packaging’s Recommended 6 Steps to Placement of Rust Inhibition Program

 1. Know that nature is fluid:  Where man’s understanding is derived from categorizing, nature is fluid and sometimes unpredictable. The atmosphere is ever changing.  Sure, in general, there are corrosive areas where it becomes more difficult for companies to ship and store, but that cannot always be predicted.
    Dramatic events such as:
volcanos, tsunamis, earthquakes, wind storms, and hurricanes
along with the understated variations such as:
temperature changes, humidity, dew point changes, seasonal vegetation decay
and man’s contributions to the atmospheric change with:
    emission releases and landfill placements
All can increase the amount of dust, soot, and corrosive gases in the atmosphere ready to rust your hard earned products. For this reason unanticipated problems may occur in areas where your company may have shipped previously without problems. If your product has value to you and your customer, prepare for the worst.

Recipe for [Packaging] Success

Posted by Elaine Spitz on Nov 21, 2011 8:07:00 AM

Most people appreciate a well-tested recipe. For that reason, I'm happy to share the recipe depicted at left, which was submitted to Southern Living Magazine by a Texan named Kathryn Watkins in 1984, and tested to be delectable by me and my dinner guests many times over. It would be a rich and delicious addition to your Thanksgiving (or regular day) table.
